Syrups
Sweeten up somebody’s life with a delicious, lovingly made syrup. We carry a whole range but we especially love the Wild Maple Walnut Syrup. It is produced in small batches on a family farm in Holmes County, Ohio. The sap is hand gathered and boiled in a small backyard evaporator. It’s then filtered and combined with locally gathered wild black walnuts and a small amount of cane juice crystals to create this unique twist to an old favorite. Perfect for those post Christmas pancakes!
Muffin Mix
What could be better than the chance to make freshly baked muffins at home? Our muffin mixes are beautifully wrapped up and ready to become great gifts. This is a lovely present for those with kids, as baking is fun for the whole family.
Jams and Jellies

Find the Perfect Gifts at Shisler’s Cheese House

We know how tricky that can be, which is why we put together our gifts boxes. No-one can resist the joy of cheeses, jams, and charcuterie. Take along a bottle of wine and you’re sure to be invited back next year!
Read on to find out all about what’s inside two of our favorite gift boxes and how you can pair them with the perfect wines.
Our Amish Cheese and Goodies collection is a perfect gift for your loved ones this Christmas.
You’ll find a 1Lb. Baby Swiss Wheel, a summer sausage link, a ¾ Lb. wheel each of Colby and Pepper Jack cheese, Shisler’s Private Label Mustard, home style Amish jam, Carr’s crackers, assorted chocolates and 6oz. REACH coffee.
Colby Cheese is very mild and creamy, so it pairs well with light, unoaked white wines such a Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc or Chardonnay. For red wines, you also want to aim for something light such as a fruity pinot noir.
You might be thinking that it’s impossible to pair a wine with a spicy cheese like Pepper Jack, but you’ll be pleased to find that a rosé will have the sweetness and strawberry flavors to complement the cheese.
One of our other great gifts is the Troyer’s Trail Bologna and Cheese box.
Inside you will find a 1Lb. Troyer’s Trail Bologna ring, a ¾ Lb. wheel each of Colby and Farmer’s cheese and assorted chocolates.
With Farmer’s cheese, try a Riesling or a sweet dessert such as Muscat. The peach tones will sit perfectly with the mild creaminess of the cheese.
You can even find a wine to go with Bologna. We recommend a Malbec which is robust enough to sit alongside the smoky Troyer’s Trail Bologna.
For the sweet-toothed person, you can also find a wine to go with the chocolates. The general rule for this will always be to find a wine that is sweeter than the chocolate. Try dark chocolate with a Merlot and milk chocolate with Sauternes.
We all know someone who really loves cheese, and that’s why we created the Cheese Lover’s Gift Box. Cheddar is a versatile cheese so it stands up alongside lots of different wines. Some of our favorites are an oaky Chardonnay that will bring out the mellowness of the cheese or a vintage port for a real Christmas treat. If you’re presenting to this to someone who isn’t a wine lover, a hard cider or beer will go well with Cheddar.
Try Cojack with a Cabernet Sauvignon or Shiraz, as the slightly spicy, peppery notes of the wine will perfectly complement the mild cheese.

Our Baby Swiss is made in Charm Ohio, by the original producer Guggisberg Cheese. It is a young, semi-soft whole milk cheese with small holes and a mild flavor. Gift Box #2: Troyer’s Trail Bologna and Cheese
In this gift box, you’ll receive a 1Lb. Troyer’s Trail Bologna Ring. This is a chunky, all-beef bologna with a smoky taste, created by the fourth generation of the Troyer family. Don’t be fooled by imitators. You’ll also find a 3/4Lb. wheel of Farmer’s cheese and a 3/4Lb. wheel of Colby cheese. Farmer’s Cheese is a mild, unripened white cheese made by adding rennet to cow’s milk. It’s a firm and crumbly cheese; the perfect accompaniment to smoked meats. The Colby cheese provides a lovely contrast, as it is a semi-hard cow’s milk cheese with a mild and creamy taste.
Slice your bologna fairly thinly and serve with our cheese on the perfect platter. We always pop in some assorted chocolates for those after-dinner cravings.
As the name suggests, this really is a cheesy box! You’ll receive a 3/4Lb. wheel each of Cheddar, Cojack (Marble), Farmer’s Cheese and Pepper Jack.
Marble Cheese is made from both Colby and Monterey Jack cheese, which is why it is sometimes called “Cojack”. Pepper Jack is a cow’s milk cheese that has been given a spicy intensity through the use of jalapeno, serrano, and habanero peppers. Along with the classics Cheddar and Farmer’s Cheese, you’re sure to have the best cheese board in the neighborhood.
Just like our other boxes, you’ll find some assorted chocolates as well.

Summer Sausage can be kept without refrigeration, which is how it gained its name. Ours is smoked, rather than dried, with a tangy taste. It’s certainly too good to be kept for only the Summer season. We’re very proud of our Private Label Mustard and it’s an ideal pairing with our meats and cheeses.

Splattered pom pom flowers
Sick of spending money on flowers? Try Martha’s Splattered Pom Pom Flowers, and since they are made from tissue paper, you can enjoy them well past Mother’s Day!
Materials: Tissue paper, pipe cleaners, floral tape, fringing scissors and regular scissors, craft paint, spray bottle
Steps:
1. Do a 1-inch accordion fold on three layers of white tissue paper (size 6×20″).
2. Wrap a pipe cleaner around center of folded paper to create a stem.
3, Cut each edge in a pointed or rounded shape (depending on what you want flower petals to look like).
4. Open the folds and carefully separate the three paper layers to create flower.
5. Spritz with water/paint mix and let dry for a few hours.
Heart shadow box
Make your own shadow box using a standard picture frame so mom has a keepsake — it can be used to display your child’s artwork, or showcase a special poem or mom’s favorite quote.
Materials: Craft paint, small paint brushes, picture frame, paper and scissors to make a heart shape, your child’s artwork or a copy of mom’s favorite poem or quotation
Steps:
1. Carefully remove glass pane from the frame.
2. Cut a simple heart template out of paper as a guide. Center the heart template on the glass pane and start tracing the outer edges of the heart with your Large Brush and Craft Paint.
3. Continue to fill in the first layer from the heart outline, out toward the edges of the glass pane. Let dry completely.
4. Apply a second coat of paint. If needed, apply another coat until you end up with an opaque “shadow” box.
5. Use this to frame your favorite artwork from your kids or poem!
Personalized decoupage trays
What mom doesn’t like breakfast in bed? Why not surprise mom not only with homemade meal, but also a personalized serving tray she can keep for years to come. Just print out your favorite photos, cut out paper hearts or pretty pictures from magazines for decoration.
Materials: Tray, decoupage finish, paintbrush, cutout hearts, photos or magazine clippings
Steps:
1. Wipe tray clean with a damp cloth. Let dry.
2. Collect photos of flowers from magazines or print out clip art or personal photos. Arrange placement on tray.
3. Paint decoupage finish onto back of a printout. Paste onto tray. Repeat for each cutout. Let dry, one to two hours.
4. Paint entire tray with decoupage finish. Let dry one to two hours. Then add a topcoat for extra durability.
Smoothie bar
Don’t want to do breakfast in bed? No problem, when mom wakes up, surprise her with a smoothie bar set on the kitchen counter. She can choose her own ingredients.
Materials: Blender, glasses, platter or bowls
Ingredients for your bar:
- 1 cup fresh or frozen pineapple, cut into 1-inch pieces
- 1 cup frozen blueberries
- 1 cup frozen strawberries
- 1 cup frozen raspberries
- Fresh ginger, unpeeled
- Bowl of low-fat plain yogurt
- Pineapple juice
- Plain Kifer (or your favorite kind of milk)
- Honey
- Handful of mint
- Bowl of ice
Instructions: Blend favorite ingredients in blender then pour into a glass for tasting.
